Frequently Asked Questions

Hypnosis can be a new and exciting experience, shrouded in mistique and mistery. For many people, their first exposure to hypnosis is stage hypnosis which adds to the interest but also creates misconceptions.

Here are some of the common questions we get asked by clients when they are first looking into hypnosis.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach that uses hypnosis to help individuals access root cause issues from the subconscious mind. Individuals and the hypnotherapist must collaborate to make lasting change by reframing thoughts, beliefs, and perceptions while in a hypnotic state.

How many sessions do I need? How long are the sessions?

The number of sessions needed varies depending on the individual and the issue being addressed. Some individuals may see results after just a few sessions, while others may require more extended treatment. Session length is typically around 60 to 90 minutes.

You are ALWAYS in control and you cannot get “stuck” in hypnosis. Simply relax and know that if any inappropriate suggestions are made, your subconscious mind would intervene and you would immediately come out of hypnosis. It is also important to remember that anything that arises in session is simply a review and does not involve reliving any part of the event. The process is as follows:

  1. Intake: Information gathering about the client and the specific focus of the session. This step is crucial for the hypnotherapist to understand the client’s goals, concerns, and relevant background information.
  2. Induction with deepeners: The client is guided into a relaxed state, often characterized as the alpha or theta state. Deepeners are used to enhance the hypnotic experience, making the individual more receptive to therapeutic suggestions.
  3. Investigation: During this phase, the hypnotherapist explores scenes or memories in the client’s subconscious mind, aiming to identify root causes of concerns or issues. This process may involve revisiting past experiences relevant to the client’s current challenges.
  4. Interpret: The client actively assesses each explored scene for attached meanings or emotions. This step allows for a deeper understanding of the subconscious elements contributing to the current issues.
  5. Install: Identified concerns are reframed and transformed, potentially leading to positive changes in thoughts, beliefs, or behaviors. Additionally, you mention the creation of a transformation audio, which can serve as a tool for ongoing reinforcement and support outside of the therapy sessions.
Is Hypnotherapy safe for children?

Hypnotherapy can be safe and effective for children, but it should be conducted by a qualified and experienced therapist trained in working with children. It is important to ensure that the child is comfortable with the process and that the therapist uses age-appropriate techniques.
